Potus Saves the World · Unwoken Studios · Effective date: [DATE YOU PUBLISH IT]

This policy explains what information Potus Saves the World (“the game”) collects and how it is used. It applies to the game on every platform it is sold or distributed on, including Steam, the Epic Games Store, Google Play, itch.io and the Unwoken Studios website.

The short version

The game has no accounts, no ads, no analytics and no tracking. Your progress is saved only on your own device.

The only personal data that ever leaves your device is for the optional online leaderboards. They are off until you join them by choosing a leaderboard name. If you join, the game sends that name and your best times and scores to our leaderboard server so they can be shown publicly. You can remove them at any time.

What the game stores on your device

To work, the game saves files on your own device only:

These files stay on your device. We cannot see them. Deleting the game's save folder removes them. On Android, uninstalling the game also removes them. On PC, uninstalling may leave the save folder in place, so your progress is kept unless you delete it.

Online leaderboards (optional)

Off by default. Nothing is sent until you open Leaderboards > Online and join by choosing a name.

What is sent when you join, and each time you set a new personal best:

Why: to show public leaderboards of the best times and scores, to keep them fair, and to let you change your name or remove yourself.

What is shown publicly: your leaderboard name, your rank and your time or score. Anyone can view the leaderboards in the game and on our website.

Where it is stored: on our leaderboard server, which runs on Cloudflare (Cloudflare Workers and D1). Like any website host, Cloudflare handles your IP address to deliver the connection and protect against abuse. We do not store your IP address.

How long it is kept: your best entry on each leaderboard is kept for as long as the leaderboards run, or until you remove it. A short record of when scores were sent (player ID and time) is kept for 24 hours to prevent spam, then deleted automatically.

How to remove it: in the game, go to Settings > Online as [your name] > Remove me. This deletes all your scores from the server straight away and turns the online leaderboards off for you. You can also email us (below) with your leaderboard name and we will remove it.

Moderation: we may remove or block names that are offensive, and scores that look cheated.

Update check

Copies of the game downloaded from itch.io or our website check once at start-up whether a newer version exists, by asking our server (on Cloudflare) for the latest version number. Nothing about you is sent with this request: no player ID, name or scores. Copies from Steam, the Epic Games Store and Google Play do not do this, because those stores update the game for you.

This website

The game's web page is hosted on Cloudflare. It uses no cookies, analytics or trackers of our own. It shows the live leaderboards by loading them from our leaderboard server; that request sends nothing about you. If the page shows a trailer, it is a YouTube video in YouTube's privacy-enhanced mode: YouTube (Google) receives information about you only if you press play, under Google's own privacy policy.

What we do not do

The stores you buy the game from

When you buy or download the game through a store or platform (for example Steam, Epic Games Store, Google Play or itch.io), that store may collect information about you under its own privacy policy, such as your account and purchase history. We do not control that data and do not receive your personal information from those stores. Please read each store's privacy policy for details.

Children

The game is not directed at children under 13. We do not knowingly collect personal information from anyone, including children. Leaderboard names should not contain real names or other personal details; if you believe a child has entered personal information as a leaderboard name, contact us and we will remove it.

Changes to this policy

If this policy changes, the new version will be posted on this page with a new effective date.
